This Tanto belongs to regular saku ranking.
Habaki : Single silver Habaki.
The blade was polished.
Blade length : 29.8 cm or 11.7 inches.
Sori : 0.1 cm or 0.04 inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 2.62 cm or 1.03 inches.
Kasane : 0.5 cm or 0.2 inches.
Era : later Muromachi period around A.D.1570.
Shape : Regular size Tanto with sharp tip.
Jitetsu : Itame-hada well grained with Masa-nagare, shirake Utsuri appear.
Hamon : Niedeki kogunome midare wild feeling with sunanagashi working. The Boshi is round Hakikake shape.
Special feature : Kanehisa is a guild of sword smith in Mino,
active around later Sengoku period (Nanbokucho~ end of Murimachi period)
and this blade may be forged at Murimachi period.
There are few Are on long blade but we can find this blade being
kept carefully for 450 years by many people.
Koshirae : Aikuchi-koshirae
Fuchikashira : Iron Kuri-gata Fuchi-kashira made around mid Edo period.
Saya : Black Ishi-me saya.
Menuki : Koma-inu engraved on Shakudo with gold color,
made around mid Edo period.
Kozuka : Chrysanthemum flower engraved on Shakudo plate,
made around mid Edo period.
