This Tesshinsai Sadahide belongs to Jyojyo saku ranking.
Shinshin to : Cyusaku ranking : Ugo : Akita
The blade was polished.
Habaki : Gold color iroe single habaki.
Blade length : 34.8 cm or 13.70 inches.
Sori : 1.2 cm or 0.47 inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 2.78 cm or 1.09 inches.
Kasane : 0.62 cm or 0.24 inches.
Era : Late Edo period Tenpo 8 years (1837)
Shape : The shape is Hirauchi style with deep sori, and it has Bo-hi, back is Gomabashi engraved.
Jitetsu : Itame hada well grained with Jinie attached. The hada patterns stands out.
Hamon : Nie Deki, Gunome Midare with much sunagashi and kinsuji activities.
Boshi is sharp end turned down.
Special feature : Tesshinsai Sadahide is a Hanshi of Echigo Takada, he is called Matsui Hirayoshi and studied under Suishinshi Masahide.
This blade is very good, and it looks like Kiyomaro from Hamon.
He help Masahide make sword, so his production number of sword is a little.
The swords which were made Tenpo era, they are the best quality in late Edo.
Taikei Naotane and other famous sword smith made the top quality swords at that time Tenpo which is called Tenpouchi.
Sadahide also probably under the influence of the era, so this sword demonstrate skill to maximize.

Tsuba : On the round shaped iron Tsuba, Kiku flower desgin is openwork.
Fuchikashira : Shakudo Nanakoji plate with wave and plover design engraved and inlaid with gold color.
Saya : Black Roiro Saya
Menuki : Shakudo plate with wave and plover design engraved and inlaid with gold color.
