Katana in Shirasaya, with Koshirae (NBTHK Tokubetshu Kicyo Token) (Consignerment sale)
Signature : Mumei(unsigned) attributed as Shizu.
(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku Jyo saku and regular saku)
This Mumei(unsigned) attributed as Shizu. belongs to Jyo saku ranking.
The blade was polished.
habaki:silver single habaki.
Blade length : 69.1 cm or 27.20 inches.
Sori : 1.7 cm or 0.66 inches.
Mekugi : 2
Width at the hamachi : 3.03 cm or 1.19 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.28 cm or 0.89 inches.
Kasane : 0.57 cm or 0.22 inches.
Era : Early Muromachi period.
Shape : The blade is O0-suriage and Machiokuri and rather wide and thick with small sori.
Jitetsu : Itame hada well grained with jinie attach and also chikei work strong feeling texture.
Hamon : Niedeki small gunome midare with sunagashi and Kinsuji work. Boshi is Midarekomi style.
Special feature : Shizu means Shizu Saburo Kaneuji who was a student of the Masamune.
This sword looks atmosphere of the Masamune strong vivid sword.
This blade obtained as Shizu NBTHK Tokubetsu Kicyo Token (1979).
If you submit the blade to NBTHK again, the sword kantei will be a Shiga seki school.
Even though Shiga seki school, the sword is close to Shizu.
The blade is healthy and nice Jigane and excellent Hamon.
Unfortunately Nakago was cut shortened not many years ago.
Probably after the war, the blade was cut shortened as using Iai practice.
