Shinto:Saijyo saki (highest) sword ranking:Ryowaza mono (very good cut well sword ranking)
(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku
Jyo saku and regular saku)
This Nanki Shigekuni belongs to Saijyo saku ranking.
The blade was polished.
Habaki:gold foiled single habaki.
Blade length : 45.45 cm or 17.89 inches.
Sori: 1.06cm or 0.417inch.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 3.03 cm or 1.19 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.21 cm or 0.87 inches.
Kasane : 0.64 cm or 0.25 inches.
Era : Early Edo period. around Kanei era.
Shape : the blade is rather wide and thick wakizashi.
Jitetsu : Koitame hada well grained with Jinie attach.
Hamon : Konie base with deep nioikuchi, Notare Gunome Midare.
The boshi is brush up.

Special feature : Nanki shigekuni is a stream of the Yamato Tegai school.
At first, he made swords at Subpu province and At Genna era,
he moved to Kisyu Wakayama province followed with Daimyo Tokugawa Yorinobu.
His subjects are suguha hamon mainly because he belonged to succeed Yamato school.
But sometimes he made Sosyu den style which is very active Gunome midare
with thick nioikuchi with sunagashi and kinsuji.
The blade is very clear.He is very skillful sword maker both Yamato den and also Sosyu den.
