This sword Sassyu Jyu Masayoshi belongs to Saijyosaku ranking.

The blade was polished by high ranking polisher.
Blade length : 44.24 cm or 17.41 inches.
Sori : 1.21 cm or 0.47 inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 3.10 cm or 1.22 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.43 cm or 0.96 inches.
Kasane : 0.68 cm or 0.26 inches.
Era : Late Edo period Anei era (1777).
Shape : The blade is wide and thick and also long lissaki nice looking healthy blade.
Jitetsu : Koitame had well grayed with jinie attach and blackish jigane.
Hamon : Niedeki with thick nioikuchi hut suguha and noter mixed and in Ha, there are many sunagashi, kinsuji and also imozuru work.
Boshi is Kaen style with Kinsuji.
Special feature : Sassyu Jyu Masayoshi is 2nd generation Ichiji Masayoshi who was born Kyoho 18th (1733) and succeeded 3rd generation and named Masayoshi.
He cut the signature Sasyu Jyu Masayoshi, Satsuma Kanko Taira Masayoshi, Hoki Kami Ason Masayuki.
He was ordered to be sword maker by Satsuma daimyo family.
He got the title of Hoki Kami at Kansei first year December 1st.
After that he gave the name Masayoshi to his eldest son.
According to the Jyuyo zufu, This sword is wide and thick with big kissaki healthy blade.
The hamon is Notare Gunome with very thick nioikuchi with fat ashi wildish nie, kinsuji.
At a glance, the blade looks Sosyu upper class like Go.
The blade is displayed typical Satsuma sword powerful and tremendous impact feeling.
The sword looks Go who was working at Kamakura period.
At Satsuma province, Masayoshi and Motohira are reformed to as the twin jewels of the sword society.
Anyway this sword is one of the top ranking Masayoshi.
Historical background : Mt Asama erupted 1783 Edo period.
Recently the same mountain erupted again and damaged a lot.
Even present Mt Asama keeps erupting.
Koshirae : Extremely nice mounting.
Tsuba : On the oval syakudo plain plate, some bushes are painted by gold color.
Fuchikashira : Syakudo Higo style.
Saya : Black ishimeji saya.
Menuki : On the syakudo plate, a dragon is engraving with gold color.
Kozuka : On the shibuichi plate, a dragon is engraved with gold color.
Kogatana : Mumei
