(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku
Jyo saku and regular saku)
This Bishu Osafune Tadamitsu belongs to Jyojyo saku ranking.
The blade was polished
Habaki : Gold Double Foiled Habaki
Blade length : 61.57 cm or 24.24 inches.
Sori : 2.21 cm or 0.87 inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 2.85cm or 1.12 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 1.96cm or 0.77 inches.
Kasane : 0.75cm or 0.29 inches.
Era : Middle Muromachi period. Bunmei era.(August, 1484)
Shape : It is regular width and thickness with deep Sori curvature.
Boshi is long end sword that is used as Katate Uchi(used by one hand).
Jitetsu : Koitame hada and Mokume hada mixture. It is well grained and clear Jigane.
On the Ji, fog like Utsuri is appearing.
Hamon : Konie Deki Choji midare with ashi and yo activities.
Boshi is irregular midare komi style hamon.
Special feature : Bishu Osafune Tadamitsu is the son of Norimitsu.
At that time, more katana was more popular than other weapons as many close
Katsumitsu, Munemitsu, Norimitsu, Sukesada has been active at that time.
During Bunmei period, Hikonee Tadamitsu has succeeded on making incredible Jigane
with gorgeous Choji Midare. It is wonderful work with fine Boshi shape as well.
This piece does not have personal signature Zokumyo as Tadamistu however,
that will not be a problem as it is already valued as Jyojyo saku rank.

Tsuba : Shakudo Nanakoji plate with 20 paulownia crest engraved and inlaid with gold.
Fuchikashira :Shakudo plate with liner pattern engraved
and inlaid with paulownia and Karakusa pattern.
Saya : Black Roiro saya
Menuki : Shakudo plate with paulownia crest engraved.
Kogatana : Shakudo Nanakoji plate with paulownia crest engraved and inlaid with gold.
