Width at the hamachi : 3.07 cm or 1.2 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.5 cm or 0.98 inches.
Kasane : 0.73 cm or 0.31 inches.
Era : Muromachi period.
Shape : It is wide and thick big kissaki nice shape wakizashi.
There are bo-hi engraved on both sides.
Jitetsu : Itame hada well grained with jinie attached. There are some chikei works seen.
Hamon : Nioideki gunome midare with some notare mixed. The tip is brush up style.
Special feature : Bushu Jyu Yasushige has been a successful sword smith group during late Muromachi period to Edo period in where it is now Hachioji, Tokyo.
The pieces are comparatively in suguha style and place much value on the sharpness, but it is rather quiet work.
They have many yari and naginata with much sharpness and there are many swords that are alike Muramasa.
There are famous sword smith such as Yasushige, Terushige, Chikashige, Musashi Tarou Yasukuni and others.
Their pieces have much whirl in the jigane and it is well grained as well.
Despite their plain work, there are many fans of this school.
Sir Goto who was working in Sword Museum was also a master of Shimohara swords and he had much collection.
This piece is again simple yet strong looking sword and the kissaki is long.
The jigane express the characteristic of the group.
Koshirae :
Tsuba : On the iron plate, ume flower is engraved with gold iroe.
Fuchikashira : On the Suaka copper plate, birds is engraved for Shakudo, and with gold iroe.
Saya : Black colored Saya.
Menuki : On Shakudo plate tiger design is engraved.
