Kasane : 0.49 cm or 0.19 inches.
Era : Edo period Kansei era (AD1789~1801).
Shape : Wide blade Naginata well balanced.
Jitetsu : Itame-hada well grained with Jinori attached Chikei working. Blackish fine Jigane.
Hamon : Many small Sunagashi working in Nie-deki deep Nioikuchi Suguha with Gonome-midare mixed Hamon. Round Haikake style Boshi.
Special feature : 10 generations of 'Mino-kami Fujiwara Masatsune' swords smiths were active during Muromachi to late Edo period at Owari area.
'Mino-kami' Masatsune the first generation became adopted son of 'Sagami-kami' Masatsune and descendants follwed the techniques and style.
It is very difficult to find out which generation of Masatsune who forged from the blade because they used very similar signature.
This Naginata has a wide blade with deep Nioikuchi, fine Jigane. Very typical Owari Masatsune blade.
Hystorical back ground : Tanuma Okitsugu, Roju of Edo shogunate downfalled by bribe scandal.
Austerity and enforce discipline done by Matsudaira Sadanobu whom taken over Tanuma's position caused stagnation of economy and culture in Japan.
