Signature : Nagayoshi saku
The blade was polished.
Blade length : 49.7 cm or 19.6 inches.
Sori : 1.2 cm or 0.47 inches.
Mekugi : 2
Width at the hamachi : 2.8 cm or 1.1 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.02 cm or 0.8 inches.
Kasane : 0.55 cm or 0.22 binches.
Era : Middle Edo period.
Shape : It is regular size width and thickness. The sori is rather shallow.
The kissaki is long ended.
Jitetsu : Koitame hada well grained with jinie attached. There are faint utsuri seen.
Hamon : Konie base suguha. The nioiguchi is dense and clear. The boshi is round end.
Special feature : Nagayoshi is from bu-ke family.
He got his name Shin Ogasawara Fujikyuu rou from his father Abe Ise no Kami Masakatsu.
He has lived in Ueno Ikenohata,
Edo and made many katana but it is rare to see the left katana,
His style is suguha style. Midareba pieces is never seen.
There are some battle flaws at the back side(15cm).
Some of the parts illustrate that that this katana was used in the battle.
Nagayosh was ranked Jyojyo saki and well repotted sword maker in Edo period between samurai.
Koshirae :
Tsuba : Tetsu mokko base tsuba and on the top part there is a Phoenix like bird drawn with Shakudou.
Fuchikashira : Shakudou base with cherry blossom and river pattern is engraved and inlayed with gold.
Saya : Gorgeous black roiro saya with coral sparkled. It is in good condition.
Menuki : Shakudou base with cock and hen engraved and inlayed with gold.
