The blade was polished.
Habaki : copper single foiled habaki.
Blade length : 57.8 cm or 22.75 inches.
Sori : 0.8 cm or 0.31 inches.

Width at the hamachi : 3.05 cm or 1.2 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.06 cm or 0.81 inches.
Kasane : 0.69 cm or 0.27 inches.
Era : Edo period Kanbun era.
Shape : It is suriage mumei sword with wide and thick firm wakizashi
Jitetsu : Itame hada well grained with jinie attached.
Hamon : Consisted in nie structure, there is gunome midare
with mixture of O-gunome. There is some isolated burns
Special feature : It is wide and thick strong looking katana.
The blade was made to fit in the shikomi tsu-e or sword-cane. It is most likely Owari sword.
Koshirae : Shikomi Tsu-e was used for protection and assassination
purpose. The sword was camouflaged to prevent the sword being recognized from the outside.
This sword was popular among the Shizoku class citizen, descendent of samurai.
However, during the Meiji sword prohibition those sword-cane were also prohibited.
The currently law of swords and firearms also restrict ones to hold the blade that is inside the cane.
This sword has the blade inside the wooden scabbard and that is associated with sword cane.
Please be forewarned that this blade and cane should not be put in same sword bag,
sword box or any sword carrying bag.
The excellent koshirae is nice for display.
