Katana in Shirasaya with Koshirae (NBTHK Hozon paper)
Signature : Mumei (unsigned) attributed as Yamato Shizu.
(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijo saku, Jojo saku Jo saku and regular saku)
This sword belongs to Saijo saku ranking.
The blade is polished by high ranking polisher.
Habaki :gold foiled double Habaki.
Blade length : 60.4 cm or 23.8 inches.
Sori : 0.6 cm or 0.24 inches.
Mekugi : 3 (2 are filled in)
Width at the hamachi : 2.87 cm or 1.13 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.20 cm or 0.87 inches.
Kasane : 0.61 cm or 0.24 inches.
Era : Early Nanbokucyo period.
Shape : The blade is Osuriage Mumei (cut shortened) with small curve and long Kissaki.
Jigane : Itame-hada Masanagare with Jinie attach and active Chikei work.
Hamon : Niedeki Suguha Notare with thick Nioikuchi double Hamon.
There are lot of Kinsuji and Sunagashi scatter in Hamon.
From the Monouchi to Kissaki, Hamon becomes to work very active.
Kissaki is Hakikake and Kaen style.
Special feature : Shizu-Saburo-Kaneuji is a swordsmith of Tegai School. He studied from Masamune in Soshu province, and then moved from Nara in Yamato province to Mino province.
‘Yamato’ Shizu is the general term for the school before moving and Kaneuji him self in narrow sense.
The workmanship of this Katana resembles to Kaneuji or Masamune. This sword is very nice Jigane with a lot of Chikei and also nice Soshu style temper line consist a lot of Kinsuju and Sunagashi scatter.
The blade is befitting enough good as ‘Masamune 10 Tetsu’, the 10 disciples of Masamune.

Saya : Edo Shogunate crests colored with gold and lacquered on the Kawarinuri Saya.
Tsuba : Edo Shogunate crests carved on round Shakudo Ishimeji Tsuba inlaid with gold.
Menuki : Edo Shogunate crests carved on Shakudo Ishimeji plate inlaid with gold.
Fuchikashira : Edo Shogunate crests carved on Shakudo Ishimeji plate inlaid with gold.
