Katana: Mumei (Mino Senjuin)

Katana in Shirasaya, with Koshirae.(NBTHK Hozon Paper)
Signature: Mumei(unsigned) attributed as Mino Senjuin.
The blade was polished
Habaki: gold foiled double habaki.
Blade length : 72.2cm or 28.42 inches.
Sori : 1.7cm or 0.66 inches.
Mekugi : 2
Width at the hamachi : 2.78cm or 1.09 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 1.62 cm or 0.63 inches.
Kasane : 0.55 cm or 0.21 inches.
Era : Early Muromachi.
Shape : The blade is oosuriage mumei(cut shortened) Mihaba
and kasane are regular size with deep sori nice looking shape.
On both sides of the blade has double hi and sow hi.
Jitetsu :Itame had well grained with jinie attach and clear Utsuri appear.
At monouchi area, there are some Kizu but not serious.
Hamon : Niedeki gunome midair and cyoji midair mixed and also togari gunome.
In Hamon, there are many sunagashi and kinsuji and also yo work.
Boshi is midarekomi hakikae yakizume style .
Special feature : According to NBTHK shins, the blade was judged as Mino Senjyuin school.
But the blade is quite well bizen jigane with utsuri and hamon is also different.
But the boshi is attractive Yamato school active hamon.
The founder of the Mino senjyuin was Yamato province and moved to Mino
and made swords by convention of Mino and Yamato senjyyuin style.
The kissaki hamon is more longer like Nanbokucyo style.
The sword is well grained Jigane even though some kizu around monouchi area
and nice Cyoji midair hamon.
Mino senjyuin school continued to late Muromachi period.
The sword is more than 72cm and nice jigane and hamon not get tired of looking at this sword.
Koshirae :
Tsuba :On the round shape iron Tsuba, rise up mimi slightly and engrave family crests with gold color.
Fuchikashira :On the iron plate, family crests are engraved with gold color.
Saya : black roar saya.
Menuki : engraved family crest with gold color.
