The blade was polished.
Habaki: Silver double foiled habaki
Blade length : 21.8cm or 8.59inches.
Sori : 0cm or 0inches.
Mekugi: 2
Width at the hamachi : 2.0cm or 0.79inches.
Kasane : 0.62cm or 0.24inches.
Era : Middle Muromachi period.
Shape : It is regular size width and thickness.
It is firm takenokozori(curved toward the ha) tanto.
Jitetsu :Ayasugi hada well grained with clear texture.
Hamon : Nie base suguha with komidare mixed.
Boushi in hakikake(brush up) style.

Special feature : Gassan is a smith group that was successful
from Kamakura to Muromachi period. The Gassan name is
from their main hub Dewano Kuni Gassan. Originated
from Dewa no Kuni Kiou Maru、they have flourished from the base
of Gassan. The jigane has craze out of ayasugi hada
and the clear hada somewhat resembles Kyushu blades.
On Edo period, Gassan school once goes cold however at Bakumatsu,
Sadayoshi and his son Sadakazu has restored the sword
but the making of this Gassan is confidential.
This blades reveals the unique Gassan hada or on another word ayasugi hada.
It has the characteristic of ko-gassan allover it.

Koshirae
Menuki: Shakudou base with horse design engraved and inlayed with gold.
Bashin: On iron base, dragon fly is engraved and inlayed with gold and silver.
saya: Sakura skin texture is imitated. It is drawn with laquar.
