Mekugi :
Width at the hamachi : 3.05cm or 1.2inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.08cm or 0.82inches.
Kasane : 0.73cm or 0.29inches.
Era : Mid Edo period.
Shape : It is wide an thick mitsumune shape wakizashi.
Sori is deep , long nice shape wakizashi.
Jitetsu : Koitame hada well grained with mixture of massage hada. It is beautiful jigane.
Hamon : Nie base, gunome midare with deep nioiguchi. There are fine sunagashi
and kinsuji works seen. Ashi is attached. Boushi is round end with mixture of kinzuji.
Special feature : Moritsugu is a son of Toshihira. He was called Gonzanee no jyo. After his father's dealth, he has learnt from his cousin Korekazu and has inherit the family changing his name to Hanbe no joy. He has passed away at Genroku 14th year at the age of 69. Moritsugu has made swords of shoji midair and gonome midare like this wakizashi. This wakizashi has deep nioiguchi with active sunagashi and kinsuji work. Moritsugu made several pieces
Koshirae :
Tsuba : Shakudou base and open works. The rim is covered with gold.
Fuchikashira : Shakudou nanakoji base with horse design engraved and inlayed with gold.
Saya : Black roar saya with stripe pattern engraved. Uniquely painted saya.
Menuki : On shakudou base, horse design is engraved.
Futatokoromono(Kozuka, Kogai) : On shakudou nanakoji base, a stirrup and rope is engraved and inlayed with gold.
Kogatana : There is a signature, Shinshu Jyu Sukehiro. Overall, it is
a great condition koshirae.
