Sori : 0.96 cm or 0.37 inches.

Width at the hamachi : 3.07 cm or 1.20 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 1.96 cm or 0.77 inches.
Kasane : 0.72 cm or 0.28 inches.
Era : Edo period Genroku era.
Shape : This wakizashi is regular shape with shallow sori. It is rather
short kanbun shinto shape Wakizashi. There is a detail Kenmakuryuu(A dragon
twisting around a ken and swallowing the ken) engraved in front side and the is a Bo-hi engraved bo-hi at back side.
Jitetsu :Koitame hada grained but it is rather close to muji.
Hamon : Niedeki suguha based with deep nioiguchi. There is active sunagashi and kinsuji.
Special feature :
Awataguchi Ikkanshi Tadatsuna is the signature but it is unfortunately Gimei. However, the jigane has
good hamon with deep nioiguchi suguha based with beautiful streaks of sunagashi and kinsuji seen.
Although it is gimei, the mei is imitated well. It can be observed as an historically valuable piece as the engraving has been
grind down but the hormone still nice.
Historical background: At 1703(Genroku year 16th), when Edo period was in its most peaceful time where
the merchant culture flourished. Chikamatsu Monzaemon, Japanese puppet show was a popular entertainment
among the citizens.
Koshirae :
Tsuba : It is a round shape iron tsuba with chase engraved. It is openwork with leaf pattern engraved with
Shinchu(brass) inlay cover above.
Fuchikashira : On the Copper ishimeji ,flowers is engraved with gold and syakudo plate.
Saya : Kairagi(shark skin) saya.
Menuki :On the shakudo plate, flower design is engraved with gold color.
Kogai: Shakudo nanako ji with grass pattern engraved.
