Keiou 3 Nen 2 Gatsu hi.(The blade was made at 1867, Feb.
Shinshinto : Chujo saku ranking : Yamashiro
(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijo saku, Jojo saku, Jo saku and regular saku)
This sword belongs to Jojo saku ranking.
The blade is polished.
Habaki : Silver double Habaki.
Blade length : 83.2 cm or 32.8 inches.
Sori : 0.6 cm or 0.27 inches.
Mekugi : 2
Width at the hamachi : 3.42 cm or 1.35 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.37 cm or 0.93 inches.
Kasane : 0.93 cm or 0.37 inches.
Era : Late Edo period 1867, Feb.
Shape : The blade is very long (83.2cm) and wide with small curve and long Kissaki which is called Kino-To.
Jigane : Oitame-hada and Komokume-hada mixed with Jinie attach beautiful texture.
Hamon : Niedeki Suguha and Boshi is double Hamon Hakikake style.
Special feature : Heian Jo Ju Osumi Kami Taira Hiromitsu was a samurai at Washu Kouriyama domain and made many swords. This sword remind us Go Yoshihiro or Hankei Hadamono Jigane (texture) which is one of the best sword in his subjects I think.
At late Edo period, many pro-Imperialist samurai hold this kind of long, wide and Okissaki style swords at Mito and Tosa domain.
And Koshirae includes 2 Saya in set. Such long Katana having Koshirae are very precious.
Koshirae :
Saya : Black Roiro Saya.
Red color saya with iron Kojiri with a dragon engraved.
Tsuba : some design is engraved open work on the round shape iron Tsuba. Signature is mentioned as Insyu Suruga Saku.
Menuki : A tiger is carved with gold color.
