The blade was polished.
Blade length : 38.2 cm or 15.03 inches.
Sori : 0.8 cm or 0.31 inches.
Mekugi : 2
Width at the hamachi : 2.45 cm or 0.96 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 1.71 cm or 0.67 inches.
Kasane : 0.49 cm or 0.19 inches.
Era : Late Muromachi period.
Shape : O-Suriage mumei with wide and thick much sori attached wakizashi.
Jitetsu : Itame hada well grained with clear hada pattern. There are shirake utsuri appearing.
Hamon : Nie structure suguha and mixture of komidare. Boshi is notare round end.
Special feature : Bingo Mihara Kaji was sword smith group successful during late Muromachi period.
The Kai Mihara is one of the sword smith group of Mihara.
There are sword smith such as Masazane, Masamori and Masayoshi and they are called Kai Mihara as whole.
Many of the works are gentle shape with suguha hamon.
This piece is rather thick Kai MIhara sword.
Koshirae :
Tsuba : Round shape shakudo nanakoji tsuba with gold rope pattern engraved on the rim and mantis engraved in open work.
Fuchi : Copper plate with pattern engraved and inlayed with gold. kashira : Shakudo Nanakoji with Karakusa pattern engraved and inlayed with gold.
Saya : Dark brown with pure gold engraved.
Menuki : Shi-Shi dog design engraved. The jigane is engraved in gold.
Kozuka : Copper plate with nanako inlayed with 6 gods of good fortune and wave is engraved and inlayed with gold.
Kogatana : Seki Kanehisa
