Katana in Shirasaya with Koshirae (NBTHK Hozon Paper)

We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku

This Mumei(Osafune Shigezane) belongs to Jyo-Jyo saku ranking.
The blade was polished by good polisher.
habaki:golds foiled single habaki.
Blade length : 62.2 cm or inches.
Sori :1.6 cm or inches.
Mekugi : 5(4 pieces were filled,)
Width at the hamachi : 2.88cm or inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.16 cm or inches.
Kasane : 0.685cm or inches.
Era :Early Nanbokucyo period. Kenmu (1334-1336 Feb 19th)
Shape : The blade is oosuriage mumei(cut shortened)
attributed as Bisyu Osafune Shugezane,
On both sides of the blade has Bo-hi is engraved .
The blade is regular size width and thickness Kakito-shi style.
Jitetsu :Koitame hada and komokume hada mixed well grained
with jinie attach and Midare Utasuri appear on the ji.
Hamon : konie deki Gunome midare Kataochi gunome and boshi is sansaku style.
Special feature : Shigezane is said to be a younger brother or student of Motoshige.
He has later on become a student of Sadamune's student.
His piece is Sugu-Sakaashi Hamon.
Those are similar to Motoshige and Chikakage pieces.
Especially Bizen Nagamitsu, Kagemitsu and Chikakage made like this kind
of Hamon which is called sansaku boshi.
The blade is typical nice sansaku bo-shi and nice Midare utsuri appear.
Koshirae : Tensyo style Koshirae.
Tsuba :On the round shape iron tsuba, some design is engraved open work.
early Edo period. Syoami school.
Fuchikashira :Fuchi was made by syakudo nanako style. Kashira: Tsuno(horn).
Saya : black roiro saya.
Menuki : On the syakudo plate some design is engraved with gold color.
