Katana Wakizashi

Dai : Katana in Shirasaya with Koshirae(NBTHK Hozon Paper)

Signature : Mumei (Senjuin Morikuni)

The blade was polished.
Habaki : Copper single habaki.
Blade length : 61.0 cm or 24.01 inches.
Sori : 1.2 cm or 0.47 inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 2.54 cm or 1 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 1.75 cm or 0.68 inches.
Kasane : 0.48 cm or 0.18 inches.
Era : Edo era Kanbun Period
Shape : Ubu mumei(Original tang). It is regular size width and thickness and the length is rather short.
Jitetsu : Koitame hada well grained with jinie attached. It is clear jigane.
Hamon : Konie base, the nioiguchi has deep gnome midare style. Ashi is rather thick with sunanagashi,
kinsuji actively put. The boshi is round end.

Special feature : This piece is ubu(original) unsigned but has been attributed as Senjyuuinn Morikuni.
The well grained jitetsu reminds us of Kotetsu. It is clear jigane and the hamon is like Hojyoji group.
It is deep nioiguchi gunome style.
The ha is bright with sunagashi and kinsuji is actively put.
It is Kessaku katana.

Koshirae :
Tsuba : On the mokko style iron Tsuba, waves are engraved with gold dots.
Fuchi : On the syakudo nanako plate, kick flowers are engraved with gold color. kasher : horn.
Saya : On the black roar saya, many black stripes are wrapped.
Menuki : On the syakudo plate, Japanese Matsu(pine tree) are engraved with gold color.

The blade was polished.
Habaki : Copper plate with gold color single habaki
Blade length : 51.7 cm or 20.35 inches.
Sori : 1.2 cm or 0.47 inches.
Mekugi : 2
Width at the hamachi : 2.72 cm or 1.07 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 1.81 cm or 0.71 inches.
Kasane : 0.55 cm or 0.21 inches.
Era : Late Muromachi period.
Shape : The blade is suriage and elf the signature Nosyu Seki and cut.
The blade is regular size with deeper sori nice looking shape.
Jitetsu : Itame had well grained with jinie attach and chikei work fantastic jigane.
On the ji, shirake utsuri appear.
Hamon : Niedeki togari gunome midair with ash and round shape Boshi.

Special feature : At a glance, the blade looks like Kanemoto school.
There are some sword makers made sanbonsugi style hamon at that period Mino province.
I think the sword is quite nice Jigane and Utsuri and also bright sanbonsugi hamon,
the sword was made by a stream of Kanemoto Akasaka province Akimoto family.
The swordsmith has high quality technique like Kanoemoto.
The blade might be made more olderr than late Muromachi period.
The sword is elegant and high quality sword.
