(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku
Jyo saku and regular saku)
This Yokoyama Sukemune belongs to Jyojyo saku ranking.
The blade was polished
Habaki : Single copper Habaki with gold color.
Blade length : 70.5 cm or 27.75 inches.
Sori : 1.3 cm or 0.51 inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 2.86cm or 1.12 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 1.88 cm or 0.74 inches.
Kasane : 0.63 cm or 0.24 inches.
Era : Late Edo period.
Shape : Ragular size, nice shape Katana.
Jitetsu :Ko-Itame Hada well grained with Jinie attach. The texture is beautiful.
Hamon : From Hamachi is Choji Midare, and then Suguha.
Boshi is Notare round shape.
Special feature : Yokoyama Sukemune is a swordsmith from Ise province.
He made the blade which has a resemblance to Yokoyama Sukekane and Yokoyama Sukenaga.
Sukemune imitate Yosozaemon and made this blade. His swords is few.
We guess that he helped his master(Yokoyama Sukeharu and Yokoyama Sukekane).
He was good at Choji Midare blade. This blade has also his nice Choji Hamon.
Koshirae :
Tsuba : Mokko shape iron Tsuba with some design. Thick Tsuba.
Fuchi: Shakudo Nanako, turtle (?) and person are engraved with gold color.
kashira :Shakudo Nanako, fhising tackle is engraved with gold color.
Saya : Black Roiro Saya.
Menuki : Copper, flower is engraved with gold color.
