Katana: Dohi Shinryo

Katana in Shirasaya (NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon paper) (consignment sale)
Signature : Dohi Shinryo
(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijo saku, Jojo saku, Jo saku and regular saku)
This sword belongs to Jojo saku ranking.

The blade is polished.
Habaki : ‘Hinomaru Ougi’ family crest engraved on Silver double Habaki.
Blade length : 70.5 cm or 27.8 inches.
Sori : 2.2 cm or 0.87 inches.
Mekugi :1  
Width at the hamachi : 3.23 cm or 1.27 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.10 cm or 0.83 inches.
Kasane : 0.76 cm or 0.30 inches.
Era : Mid Edo period around Enpo era. (around A.D. 1673~1681)
Shape : Wide and thick blade with deep curve long Kissaki blade.
Jigane : Koitame-hada well grained with Jinie attached beautiful Osaka Jigane.
Hamon : Nie-deki Notare Gonome Midare Hamon with deep Nioikuchi. Boshi turnes very sharp.

Special feature : Dohi Shinryo the first generation is son of Dohi Masanori, the swordsmith of Hirato at Hizen province. He went to Osaka at 1680 to become a disciple of Inoue Shinkai. After his master passed away at 1682, he returned to Hirato and started to served to Hizen-Hirato-Matsuura clan.
This Osaka Sihinto sword has wide and thick blade with similar characteristics to his master Inoue Shinkai.
