The blade was polished.
Blade length : 68.0 cm or 26.77 inches.
Sori : 1.6 cm or 0.62 inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 3.19 cm or 1.25 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.17 cm or 0.85 inches.
Kasane : 0.74 cm or 0.29 inches.
Era : Late Edo period.
Shape : The blade is wide and thick healthy blade.
inside of Kissaki has Tateware.
Jitetsu : Koitanme hada well grained with jinie attach.
Hamon : Niedeki gunmen midare and Choji midare mixed with sunagashi and ash scatter.
Special feature : Even if the blade is wide and thick healthy blade, inside of Kissaki has Tateware but not serious.
I think from the Hamon and jigane, the blade was made around late Edo period.
The Hamon is good and looks Kasama Ikkansai Shigetsugu.
The blade is healthy and suitable for Iai practice and also Kansho (look the sword).
Historical background: 1868: Boshin senso : Satsuma and Choshu new government and old Bakufu power battled inland war.
Koshirae : The Koshirae is good condition for stand for Iai practice.
Tsuba : On the square iron Tsuba, brass was inlayed : Heianjyo Tsuba : early Edo Azuchi momoyama period.
Fuchikashira : On the iron plate, a shish dog and peony flower are engraved.
Saya : Wakasa nuri style.
Menuki : A dragon is engraved by shakudo plate.
