Hizen Jyu Harima Daijyo Fujiwara Tadakuni Ubunakago There is long signature of 11 letters.
It is a piece of first generation Tadakuni of Kanbun.
The smith has made same length long ashi choji midare
which is rare to be seen.

The blade was polished.
Habaki : Gold foiled single foiled habaki
Blade length : 70.6 cm or 27.79 inches.
Sori : 1.2 cm or 0.47 inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 2.96 cm or 1.17 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.24 cm or 0.88 inches.
Kasane : 0.65 cm or 0.26 inches.
Era : Edo period Circa Kanbun
Shape : It is wide and thick healthy blade with long kissaki.
It is nice shape piece.
Jitetsu : Koitame hada well grained with jinie attached.
It is clear konuka hada with fine chikei works seen.
Hamon : Nie structure gunome choji midare mix with ashi well attached.
There is deep nioiguchi with some sunagashi seen.
It is similar to Ikkanshi Tadahiro pieces and the condition is excellent.
Special feature : Tadahiro is a son of Hizen Yoshiie family and has been called Hashimoto Rokurozaemon.
He has received the post of Harima Daijyo at year 1634 and later on become Harima no kami.
He was a chauffeur smith of Nabeshima family so he had no trouble with gaining materials of the sword.
This piece has same length ashi and choji with no kizu or flaw.
It is beautiful katana.
This sword was made in Late Kanei period and the kissaki is long ended which reminds of the Keicho shape.
Historical background : At Kanei 14th year（1637） The Shimahara Rebellion or Amakusa Riot has occured from Kanei 14th year October 25th to Kanei 15th year February 28th.
The Hyakusho peasants were exploited and has taken high land tax while Christians was persecuted and starvation falls on top.
Those dissatisfaction has been focused on the Shimahara domain and Karatsu domain.
