Signature : Ichiryushi Saku (Nagamitsu)

This sword belongs to Jo saku ranking.
The blade is polished.
Habaki : Copper single Habaki.
Blade length : 66.3 cm or 26.1 inches.
Sori : 1.6 cm or 0.63 inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the Hamachi : 3.35 cm or 1.32 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.45 cm or 9.65 inches.
Kasane :0.75 cm or 0.29 inches.
Era : Showa period (during WW2)
Shape : The blade is wide and thick with deep curve, long Kissaki nice looking shape.
Jigane : Koitame-hada well grained with Jinie attach Muji style.
Hamon : Konie-deki Choji Midare Hamon with small Ashi scatter in Ha,
Boshi is Midarekomi Yakizume style.
Special feature : During the war, Shigetaro Emura, a governor of Okayama prison, tried to reform prisoners by making them forge Japanese swords with traditional techniques.
They learned how to make Japanese swords from Ichimura and also Nagamitsu.
Ichihara invited Nagamitsu as a leader of swordsmith.
Nagamitsu was a member of the Army swordsmiths and prized at the Army sword technical fosterage prize.
At a glance, Nagamitsu swords looks poor and not so good because these swords were polished by immature polishers.
If the blade polished by good polisher, it should be changed a lot.
This sword is also very active Choji Midare Hamon which looks like
Shinshinto.
I sometimes see such kind of nice swords which was made by Nagamitsu.
His name were mentined as Nagamitsu, Ichiryushi, Bizen-kuni Karasuyama Jyoka Ichiryusi Nagamitsu and so on.
This sword is mentioned as Ichiryusi which is rare signature.
This sword looks Shinshinto high standard quality.
