There are seven letter signature engraved. At Keian period Shinkai has engraved
his father Kunisada's signature on his behalf. This piece is high quality article.
The blade length is 2shaku 2sun 9bu Written by Tanzan Do shiki

Sori : 1.05 cm or 0.41inches.

Width at the hamachi : 3.15cm or 1.24inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.08 cm or 0.81inches.
Kasane : 0.7cm or 0.27 inches.
Era :Edo period Around Keian era (1648)
Shape : It is wide and thick regular size sori. It is shallow kissaki. Nice shape katana.
Jitetsu :Koitame hada well grained with jinie attached finely.
The jigane is highest rank osaka jigane.
Hamon : Nie structure gunome midare with deep nioiguchi.
There are sunagashi , kinsuji,
ashi and yo works seen. Boushi is round end.
Special feature : Inoue Shikai is the second son of first generation Izumino kami Kunisada.
At his early career, he has used the same signature, "Izumi no kami Kunisada"
and helped making his father's sword and later on was able to deal with making swords on his father's behalf.
This sword was made by Inoue Shinkai as his father's substitute. The jigane is excellent
and the hamon is truly bright. It is excellent piece. Dr. Tanobe has valued
this sword as high quality piece in his sayagaki.The jigane is in its best quality.
You will never be tired of watching that jigane and deep nioiuchi.
2nd generation Kunisada or Inoue Shinkai was the second son of Izumi no kami Kunisada.
This katana was made during the time when Inoue Shinkai was making sword for his father.
The bright nioiguchi of the hamon tells us that he would be successful as second generation.
