The blade was polished.
Blade length : 70.29 cm or 27.67 inches.
Sori : 1.95 cm or 0.76 inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 3.35 cm or 1.31 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.39 cm or 0.94 inches.
Kasane : 0.68 cm or 0.26 inches.
Era : Edo period. around Kansei era(1795).
Shape : The blade is wide and thick healthy blade.
Jitetsu : Iteme had well grained with jinie attach and chikei work and blackish jigane.
Hamon : Niedeki with thick nioikuchi gunome midare.
The hamon constructed by sunagashi and kinsuji.

Special feature : Satsuma province produced excellent swordsmiths under the patronage of the Shimazu family. Motohira, born as a son of retaind swordsmith Oku Motonao in 1744 was a representative swordsmith in early Shin-to period. Motohira succeeded the headship of family in 1777 and was appointed Yamato (No) Kami in 1789. His younger brothers Mototake and Motoyasu were also excellent swordsmith and their collaboration still survives. Motohira passed away in 1826, aged 83.
This blade was made in 1795 at the age of 51.
The sword is good condition without Kizu and flow.
