Habaki : Glod foiled single habaki.
Blade length : 69.09 cm or 27.20 inches.
Sori : 1.2 cm or 0.47 inches.

Width at the hamachi : 3.08 cm or 1.21 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.01 cm or 0.79 inches.
Kasane : 0.69 cm or 0.27 inches.
Era : Edo period Kanbun era.
Shape : The blade is regular size small sori Kanbun style.
Jitetsu : Itame had well grained with jinie attach and small chikei work.
Hamon : Niedeki gunome midare with ash work and also in Hamon, there are many sunagashi and small kinsuji work.
Special feature : Kazusa Suke Fujiwara Kaneshige was working at Musashi province and
Kazusanosuke Fujiwara Kaneshige was said to bethe son of Izumi no kami Kaneshige however,
the recent studies have revealed that he is the student of Izumi no kami Kaneshige.
His secular name is Tsuji Sukeemon and was active at Edo.
He has made many sword and is preserved until today.
He was popular as a mentor of Kotetsu so many sword lovers
would treasure Kaneshige’s sword.
After moving to Edo from Echizen, he has influenced many sword smith such as Kotetsu, Hojyoji Masahiro, MIyoshi Nagamich, Hojyoji Yoshitsugu and others.
It is said that this Kaneshige is the eighth unit captain of Shinsengumi(special police force of Japan’s late Shogunate period) Toudou Heisuke’s, favorite sword.
It is not much of a surprise as the sword seems quite sharp.
This piece has deep nioi line with round gunome mixture.
The ha is bright and clear and is in fine condition.

Tsuba : Iron Sukashi Tsuba.
Fuchikashira : On the shibuichi plate, dragon is engraved with Taira-zougan .
Saya : Black unique design saya.
Menuki : Shakudo plate wtih some design engraved and inlayed with gold.
