Signature: Ansei 6 nen 2 gatsu Kichijitsu. (Ansei 6 year(1859) February Fortunate day)

The blade was polished.
Blade length : 71.3cm or 28.08inches.
Sori : 1.6cm or 0.63inches.
Mekugi: 1
Width at the hamachi : 2.97cm or 1.17 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.40cm or 0.95inches.
Kasane : 0.7 cm or 0.28 inches.
Era : modern times.
Shape : It is regular size shape and thickness and it is Oo-kissaki piece which is elegant nice looking style.
Jitetsu : Itame hada well grained with jinie attached.
Hamon : NIe base gnome mix with longer ashi attached.
Special feature : Minamoto Masakage is a sword smith in Echigo. He was the
student of Suzuki Masao and later on becomes a student of Suishinshi Masahide.
He is categorized as one of Kiyomaro school swordsmith however, as the Meiji banning of swords,
he had no choice but to abandon his carrier .
Now, this piece has very identical mei with the real men but there are some doubtable parts too
so we would like to introduce this katana as gimei(not genuine) katana. It is healthy blade with fine jigane.
Hamon could be brighter but it has a miginificant kissaki. It is attractive shape katana indeed.
Historical background: It was made during the frantic era.
