Gojo Kanenaga, Osuriage Mumei, blade length is 62.72cm
written by Dr. Kanzan in winter 1962.
(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku
Jyo saku and regular saku)
This Mumei (Den Gojo Kanenaga) belongs to Saijyo saku ranking.
The blade was polished.
Habaki: gold foiled double Habaki.
Blade length : 62.72 cm or 26.66 inches.
Sori : 1.8 cm or inches.
Mekugi : 2
Width at the hamachi : 2.73 cm or 1.07 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 1.96 cm or 0.77 inches.
Kasane : 0.55 cm or 0.21 inches.
Era : Heian period.(1028-1036)
Shape : Osuriage Mumei, elegant shape Katana. There are Bo-Hi on both side.
Jitetsu : Itame Hada well grained with Jinie attach. The mixture of Mokume Hada.
There are Utsuri on the Ji. The Jigane is the best quality.
Hamon : Ko-Gunome Midare with Nie. There are Ko-Ashi and Kinsuji.
In Ha, the Nioikuchi is thick and soft. Boshi is also same and likes Yakizume.
Special feature : Gojo Kanenaga is a son of Sanjo Arikuni. He lived in Yamashiro Gojo province.
He is a student of Sanjo Mumechika. He succseed in Chogen era(1028-1036).
The signature's blade is few number. Probably only 3 swords.
Almost his blades are Mumei(unsign). This blade came through about 1000years.
The Jigane is good Mukugitae without kizu and flaw.
Especially in Ha, there are various type of works. The Hamon of Boshi is still exist.
The blade has been kept carefully for a long time. This sword that is a heriloom.
This blade is very rare and the chance of a lifetime.
Koshirae : in good conditon.
Tsuba :Round shape shakudo Tsuba, dragon and some design with gold color.
Fuchi: Shakudo, Oni-gawara(a tyoe of roof ornamentation) is engraved.
Kashira : horn.
Saya : Black Kizami Saya.
Menuki : Dragonfly and Kawara(tile of the roof) engraved with gold color.
Kogatana : : signature: Tsutsui Ecchu Kami Kanekuni.
Kogai : Raptores and persons are engraved with gold color. It is rare design.
