Sori : 3.0cm or 1.18inches.

Width at the hamachi : 3.23cm or 1.27inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.2cm or 0.87inches.
Kasane : 0.33cm or 0.12inches.
Era : Middle Muromachi Period
Shape : It is wide and thick long size katana.
It has deep curve and the boshi is long end.
Jitetsu : Ayasugi hada well grained with jinie attached. The ayasugi hada is well seen.
Hamon : Nie plate suguha with some clear ha. Ashi texture is softly expressed
and it is yakizume style with mixture of nijyuba in the boshi.
Special feature : Gassan was successful in Oushu( Mutsunokoku) however,
from the late Muromachi period the family line failed. On later Edo period,
the revival of ayasugi-hada was done by Gassan Sayoshi and Gassan Sadakazu.
The Gassan school that was active before early Edo peirod is called Ko-gassan.
This piece is quite old Ko-Gassan. The Ayasugi jigane is well grained with jinie attache.
The Hamon is typical suguha and the jigane is smooth as water surface.
Ko-Gassan's characteristic is well seen and it is finely made work.
Koshirae : Tachi koshirae. It is old antique koshirae
which we assume it was donated to shrine and temple.
Tsuba : Iron plate tachi tsuba. Some patterns are engraved and inlayed with gold.
Fuchikashira :Yoroi:On iron plate silver is covered and inlayed.
Saya : Red-brown saya(There are some flaws)
Menuki : Copper plate with family crest engraved.
