The blade was polished.
Habaki: Bronze single habaki
Blade length : 110.5 cm or 43.50 inches.
Sori : 2.1cm or 0.82 inches.
Mekugi: 3
Width at the hamachi : 4.06cm or 1.6 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.66cm or 1.05 inches.
Kasane : 0.97cm or 0.38 inches.
Era : Late Muromachi period. Eioroku era 1560(450 years ago)
Shape : Ubu nakago(original nakago that is not cut shorten.) It is magnificent dedication sword.
Jitetsu :Itame hada with mixture of mokume. It is well grained with clear
Hamon : NIe base suguha style with soft nioiguchi. There are active ashi and ha seen. Boushi round
and brushed up style. It is Kaenstyle boshi.
Special feature : Although this piece is mumei(unsigned) blade, it was attributed as Kanefusa from NBTHK.
It is magnificent and noble piece that was long came down in the shrine. Due to the request of the owner, we
cannot indicate the shrine name. None the less, it is treasured blade that was kept carefully in the shrine from
Eiroku period to present. There is a high quality polish done on this blade. It reminds Rai school.
It is very rare to see such a long and thick blade with no kizu and flaw.
It is not too much to say that it is the best treasured blade in Japan.
I'm first time to see such long blade with nice Jigane and hamon without Kizu and flow.
Historical background: At Eiroku 3rd May 19th(1560. May 12th) Okehazama battle.At Okehazama district,
Oda Nobunaga 6000 troops and Imagawa Yoshimoto 20,000 troops battled.
At 1 o'clock, concentrated heavy rain came down and Imagawa Yoshimoto rested while,because Oda troops
are not fight at this hey rainfall but Oda troops made a raid on the enemy lines and got the victory.
Imagawa Yoshimoto was captured and cut off the neck by Mori Yoshikatsu.
