The blade was polished.
Habaki : Gold Single Foiled
Blade length : 78.1 cm or 30.7 inches.
Sori : 2.6 cm or 1.02 inches.
Mekugi : 3
Width at the hamachi : 3.28 cm or 1.29 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.14 cm or 0.84 inches.
Kasane : 0.66 cm or 0.25 inches.
Era : Early Muromachi period.
Shape : Ther eis bohi engraved at both side of the sword.
It is regular with and thickness with deep sori.
It is long size katana and it is magnificent looking.
Jitetsu : Koitame hada well grained with sticky feeling jigane. There is white utsuri appearing and the hada is quite clear.
Hamon : Nie structure suguha and komidare.
Special feature : Hojyu is a sword smith group from Okushu, Northern part of Japan.
They were successful from Muromachi period.
The Houju is written as Ho Ju(treasure Kotobuki) which is quite lucky meanings.
So The sword Houju were treated as gift like marriage ceremony, birthday or other purpose.
At Tohoku area(Nothern part of Japan) Mogusa, Gassan are well known sword makers.
It is very curious that the Kyushu sword like Kongo hyoid, Konaminohira and Houju and Gassan are same quality.
Tohoku area,and Kyushu district are very far departed but it is strange because the sword is very similar.
I think the iron sand are almost same as both countries.
Koshirae : Handachi koshirae
Tsuba : On oval shape iron tsuba, Fuji and cloud are inlaid with gold color.
On the back of the Tsuba, design and wave is engraved and inlayed with gold.
It is work that can be determined as Jyakushi.
Fuchikashira : On the Iron plate, some designe are painted by gold color.
Saya : Black Roiro Saya
Menuki : Several men are engraved by copper plate.
Kurikata : On the Iron plate, some designe are painted by gold color.
