Katana in Shirasaya, with Koshirae.(NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon paper)
Signature: Unsigned attributed as Kouda school.
The blade was polished by good polisher.
Blade length : 65.5 cm or 25.78 inches.
Sori : 0.7 cm or 0.27 inches.
Mekugi: 4
Width at the hamachi :2.82 cm or 1.11 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 1.98 cm or 0.77 inches.
Kasane : 0.85 cm or 0.33 inches.
Era : late Kamakura period.
Shape : The blade is regular size oosuriage mumei(cut shortened).
Jitetsu :Koitame had well grained with jinie attach beautiful texture.
Hamon : Niedeki suguha and noter hamon thick nioikuchi and sunagashi and also nice Kinsuji work.
Boshi is round shape hakikake style(brush up) and kinsuji.
Special feature : Kouda school is said that from late kamakura to Nanbokucho era.
After Nanbokucho period, it is said Uda school.
I think this sword looks old tan Nanbokucho period probably late Kamakura period.
Especially the jigane is wonderful well grained and chikei work.
Also thick nioikuchi suguha and noter hamon with kinsuji clearly nice work.
At NBTHK shins, the blade was judged as Tokubetsu hozon Kouda school.
But I think from the Hmon and Jigane , the blade might be Taima school.
Anyway the blade itself marvelous very attractive Jigane and hamon.

Tsuba :On the round syakudo plate, some design are painted by gold color.
Fuchikashira :On the syakudo nanako plate, a white egret and river side are engraved with gold color.
Saya : black roar saya.
Menuki : flower designe is engraved by syakudo plate.
