Katana in Koshirae
Signature: Mumei
The blade was polished.
Blade length :70cm or 27.5 inches.
Sori : 0.9 cm or 0.35inches.
Mekugi: 3
Width at the hamachi : 2.88cm or 1.13inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.23cm or 0.88 inches.
Kasane : 0.61cm or 0.24 inches.
Weight of blade and Tsuka and Tsuba (without Saya): around
Era : Late Muromachi period.
Shape : The shape is wide and tim the sori is rather shallow. It is oosuriage mumei blade.
Jitetsu :Itame hada well grained with jinie attached.
Hamon : Nie base suguha. There are koashi seen with active ha. It is well yakisage(the temper on the edge.)
Special feature : From the jigane and hamon, it can be estimated as a katana of Muromachi period.
There are little flaws which is observed that it is used as Iai.
The flaws can easily be removed.
Koshirae :
Tsuba : signature ??? Yasutoshi: on the round shape iron Tsuba, Oni devil is engraved.
Fuchikashira : The fuchi si iron with monkey design engraved. Kashira: On an Iron plate, a design of prajna is engraved.
Saya : Black Ishimeji saya
Menuki : Shakudou base with a design of a flute engraved
