Katana in Shirasaya (45th NBTHK Juyo Paper)

The blade was polished by high ranking polisher.
habaki:gold double foiled habaki.
Blade length : 69.8 cm or 27.48 inches.
Sori : 1.5 cm or 0.59 inches.
Mekugi : 1 is open. 2 is filled.
Width at the hamachi : 3.27 cm or 1.28 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.24 cm or 0.88 inches.
Kasane : 0.79 cm or 0.31 inches.
Era : Late Nanbokucho period.
Shape : The blade is osuriage mumei(cut shortened unsigned sword) with bo-hi is engraved on both sides.
The blade is rather wide and regular thickness small sori and longer kissaki.
Jitetsu :Itame hada and mokume hada mixed with jinie attach and chikei work also clear midareutusuri appear.
Hamon : Konie deki gunome midare and small gunome midare, cyoji midare mixed with sunagashi and small kinsuji work.
Nijyu ba(double hamon) and Yubashiri scatter.
Boshi is small midare and turns back sharply.
Special feature : Generally speaking The founder of the Omiya school was Kunimori and moved to Bizen.
But recently Oomiya school was belonged to Bizen Chikakage school.
so NBTHK says that we have to consider and judge in the future about Oomiya school.
Anyway this sword is very nice Jigane with Midare utsuri and well grained texture.
Hamon is typical Oomiya school.
The blade is healthy and nice work.
