Katana in Shirasaya with Koshirae (NBTHK Hozon Paper)
Signature : Mumei(unsigned) attributed as Waki school.
(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku
Jyo saku and regular saki)This sword belongs to Jyo-saku ranking.
The blade was polished
Habaki: silver single habaki.
Blade length : 65.15 cm or 25.64 inches.
Sori : 1.5 cm or 0.59 inches.
Mekugi : 4
Width at the hamachi : 2.84 cm or 1.11 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.16 cm or 0.85 inches.
Kasane : 0.55 cm or 0.21 inches.
Era : Late Kamakura period.
Shape :The sword is oosuriage mumei cut shortened blade.
The Motohaba and Sakihaba are almost same size with long kissaki.
Jitetsu :Koitame hada and mokume hada mixed with jinie attach
and also nice utsuri appear.
Hamon : Niedeki suguha with koashi and yo work.
Moshi is round shape hakikake style(brush up).
Special feature : At Bizen Kokubunji, Waki Shigesuke and Ujiyori are working.
I think these sword makers tried to make Kagemitsu style.
At a glance, the blade looks Kagemitsu sword
but the Kissaki is quite difference Hakikake style.
The sword has small kizu on the sashiomote 5cm from the Hamachi.
but not serious. The blade is very fine Jigane and shinogi ji is covered by Itame and mokume hada.
Koshirae:
Tsuba: Mokko shape iron Tsuba with open work.
Saya: Red color Saya.
Fuchikashira: Shakudo, Shishi dog is engraved.
Menuki: Shakudo, Shishi dog is engraved.
