Katana in Shirasaya with Koshirae.(NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon paper)
Signature : Mumei(Ko Uda)
(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku Jyo saku and regular saku)
This sword belongs to Jyojyo Saku ranking.
The blade was polished.
Habaki : single silver
Blade length: 70.7cm or 27.83inches
Sori : 1.2 cm or 0.47 inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 3.10 cm or 1.22 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.60 cm or 1.02 inches.
Kasane : 0.68 cm or 0.26 inches.
Era : Nanbokucho period.
Shape : Regular size, Osuriage Mumei Katana. Shinogiji is wide.
Jigane : Itame Hada Hadadachi with Jinie attach. The blakish Jigane.
Hamon : Nie Deki, Suguha base with Notare-Ha and bouble-Ha.
In Ha, there are Sunagashi and fine Kinsuji.
Boshi is Notare Saki Togari gokoro shape.
Sspecial feature: The Uda school is said to have originated in Yamato province.
The founder Kunimitsu moved to Ettyu province in the last Kamakura period.
It is said that his son, Kunifusa learned under Norishige who created a peculiar texture
of jitetsu compounded soft and hard iron commonly called matsukawa-hada or Norishige-hada in Japanese.
Consequently the texture of jitetsu is a point worthy of appreciation of Uda School
that was very good at making use of well-tempered iron's special qualities.
Especially conspisious chikei appeals us strongly.
This blade has a Ware around Monouchi era on Sashi-Ura side.
But it is not serious. The Jigane is very nice.
Koshirae :
Tsuba: Iron Tsuba, farmers and landshape are engraved with gold color.
Fuchikashira : Shakudo, plant is engraved with gold color.
Saya: Gold Makie Saya.
Menuki : Shaudo, marine life? is engraved.
