This Mumei(Tegai Kanenori) belongs to Jyo-Jyo saku ranking.
The blade was polished.
Habaki: Silver single habaki.
Blade length : 67.5 cm or 26.57 inches.
Sori : 1.7cm or 0.66 inches.
Mekugi : 3
Width at the hamachi : 3.0cm or 1.18 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.27cm or 0.89 inches.
Kasane : 0.67 cm or 0.264nches.
Era : Around late Nanbokucho period around Ouei era.
Shape : IT is O-Suriage Mumei and rather wide and thick with deep Sori and longer kissaki nice looking shape.
On both sides of the blade, had double Hi.
Jitetsu : Small tame hada well grained with jinie attached with small chikei work nice soft feeling texture.
Shinogoji is masame hada and itame hada mized.
Hamon : Niedeki suguha hamon with small ashi ,
Boshi(Kissaki) is yakizume srtle brush up hamon.
Special feature : Yamato school produced 5 stream main schools. Yamato Ho-syo,Taima ,
Tegai, Shikkake and Senjyuin school.
Tegai school started from Kamakura era and continued to late Edo period for a long terms.
The main head of the Yamato school is Kanenaga and also Kaneyoshi, Kanekiyo,
Kanetomo, and Kanetoshi and so on.
Generally old Tegai school didn't mentioned the signature on the tang
because these swordsmith made swords for armed priests.
First stage of Tegai school's Jigane looks like Yamashiro style well grained
koitame hada like Kanenaga and later on jigane contained Masame hada.
Tegai Kanekiyo was working Ouei era (1394-1428) well grained texture.
