Katana in Shirasaya(NBTHK 55th Juyo paper)
Signature: Mumei(Unsho)
The blade was polished.
Blade length : 75.4 cm or 29.69 inches.
Sori : 2.0cm or 0.79inches.
Mekugi: 2
Width at the hamachi : 3.02cm or 1.189 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.04cm or 0.80inches.
Kasane : 0.59cm or 0.23inches.
Era : Late Kamakura period.
Shape : Oosuriage mumei. Deep sori with boushi rather long.
It is good shape katana.
Jitetsu :Itame hada with mixture of mokume hada. JInie is attached.
There are chikei seen in some parts and the jigane is very clear.
There are perfect utsuri seen in the ji. Chihan utsuri is seen. The ji is dark.
Hamon : KOnie base suguha style with active ashi, ha seen. Boushi is sansaku style with some brush style end.
Special feature : From the Kamakura period to Nanbokuchou period,
there were many wordsmithes from Bizenkoku such as Ukaishou, Unshou, Unji, Unjyuu were existing.
From the residence, the Ukai school also used the name of "Un-雲-" so it is also proved as Unrui.
There pieces are different from those of Osafune. There are mix of Yamashiro style mix inside Bizenmono.
They also are influenced from Aoe.
Unshou has low yaki, and rather calm looking. It is similar to Unji where the ashi and ha is well seen.
This blade is oosuriage yet sori is rather deep and is wazori style shape.
The itame and mokume mix with chihan utsuri is seen. The jitetsu is dark and the hamon is chuu suguha.
There are sharp ha and choji. The ha and ashi is clear and konie is attached.
The boushi is wound and the turn is short.
This piece has clear characteristic of Unrui. It is fine piece to observe.
