Habaki : Gold foiled double habaki
Blade length : 70.7 cm or 27.83 inches.
Sori : 1.2 cm or 0.47 inches.
Mekugi : 2
Width at the hamachi : 3.04 cm or 1.19 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.10 cm or 0.82 inches.
Kasane : 0.68 cm or 0.26 inches.
Era : Edo Period circa Kanei(1624-1645)
Shape : It is wide and thick slightly shallow sori. The kissaki is long ended nice piece.
Jitetsu : Koitame hada well grained with jinie attached. It is traditional Osaka jigane.
Hamon : Suguha starts around the hamachi.
It turns to gunome midair and fist-shape choji(Kobushi choji).
Ashi well attched. There are many sunagashi, kinsuji. Boushi is round point style.
Special feature : Musashi no kami Kunitsugu is a son of first generation Kawachi no kami Kunisuke.
His first mei was Kunimitsu. Kobayashi Musashi no kami Fujiwara Kunitsugu, Sesshu Jyu Musashi Daijyo Fujiwara Kunitsugu,
Musashi no kami Kunitsugu.
This sword is very alike to second generation Kawachi no kami Kunisuke.
Starting from suguha, the hamon becomes gunome midare, wild kobushi choji midare.
It is no different to second generation Kunisuke swords.
The long kissaki shows us that it is the shape of Kannei period.
It is older piece than Kanbun.
He has left only few swords of his own because he was helping the second generation Kunisuke for most of his carrier.
This sword is a true master piece of Kunitsugu.
It is no less quality than second generation Kunisuke.
There are gorgeous kabushi shoji ha and the polish is excellent. We recommend you this sword.
Koshirae : It is elegant fine condition uchigatana koshirae.
Tsuba : Round shape iron tsuba with eagle design engraved and inlayed with gold.
Fuchikashira : Shakudou nanakoji with flower design engraved and inlayed with gold.
Saya : Black wrinkle pattern saya uchigatana koshirae. There are some minor scratch but not serious.
Menuki : Shakudou plate flower design is engraved and inlayed with gold.
Kojiri : Iron
Historical background : Tokugawa Iemitsu consolidated Edo shogunate.
Shimahara Rebellion occurred at Kanei 14th year.
