Showa 16 Nen Yichi Gatsu Hi. (The good day of Showa 16th, 1941)
(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijo saku, Jojo saku Jo saku and regular saku)
This sword belongs to Jo saku ranking.
Habaki : Copper single Habaki.
Blade length : 65.1 cm or 25.6 inches.
Sori :1.3 cm or 0.51 inches.
Mekugi : 2
Width at the Hamachi : 2.88cm or 1.13 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.11cm or 0.83 inches.
Kasane : 0.63 cm or 0.25 inches.
Era : During WW2 (Showa 16th, AD1941).
Shape : The blade is standard size with width and thickness with deep curve and long Kissaki.
Jigane : Masame-hada well grained with Jinie attach and Chikei work along with Masame-hada.
Hamon : Niedeki Suguha and double Hamon mixed, Uchinoke and Sunagashi work well. Boshi is round shape.
Special feauture : Kunimitsu was working at Sendai province as Army commissioned sword maker and prized for forging good Gunto.
I think he is a streams of the Sendai Kunikane.
This blade’s polish is not so perfect. We recommend using for Iai practice. But the blade should be attractive by hands of high ranking polisher.
Koshirae : Japanese Army sword mounting. (Over 70 years has passed from crafted)
Historical backgound: Police troops dispatched for fan rush at Li Xianglan appearance on stage in Nichi-geki. Li Xianglan is a Chinese-born Japanese actress and singer. Her name in Japan is ‘Yoshiko Yamaguchi’, or after the war she moved to United states as ‘Shirley Yamaguchi’.
