Katana in Shirasaya(51th NBTHK Juyo paper)
Signature : Shu-Mei Sa (Sa Sadayoshi)
(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku
Jyo saku and regular saku)
This Shu-Mei Sa (Sa Sadayoshi) belongs to Saijyo saku ranking.
The blade was polished.
Blade length : 68.2cm or 26.85 inches.
Sori : 2.3 cm or 0.90 inches.
Mekugi : 2
Width at the hamachi : 3.25 cm or 1.27 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.58 cm or 1.01 inches.
Kasane : 0.68 cm or 0.26 inches.
Era : Nanbokucho period.
Shape : Wide and thick blade with large Sori.
Osuriage Mumei Katana. There are Bo-Hi on both side.
Jitetsu : Itame Hada well grained with Jinie attach. There are Chikei.
The Jigane is clear.
Hamon : Form Hamachi is Gunome Midare with thick Nioukuchi.
And then Ko-Gunome Midare and doble Hamon.
In Ha, there are Sunagashi and Kinsuji.
Special feature : This blade has Shu-Mei(red signature)"Sa".
But the NBTHK judged as Sa Sadayoshi.
The shape is nice and Okissaki dignified blade.
Sa Sadayoshi is descended from Sa Monji.
The many pupils(Yasuyoshi, Yoshisada, Kuhihiro etc) succeeded.
Sadayoshi's blade looks like Samonji. The work is nice.
We have no fault to find with this blade. This is a masterpiece of the sword.
