Shinto : Saijyosaku (top ranking sword maker) : Oowaza mono cutting test ranking.Settsu province.
The blade was polished.
Blade length : 59.8 cm or 23.54 inches.
Sori : 1.1 cm or 0.43 inches.
Mekugi : 2
Width at the hamachi : 2.96 cm or 1.17 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.01 cm or 0.79 inches.
Kasane : 0.65 cm or 0.25 inches.
Era : Edo period Enpo era.
Shape : It is 2 cm suriage machiokuri with bohi engraved both aat the front and back. It is regular width and thickness.
There is shallow sori. Kissaki is long ended.
Jitetsu : Koitame hada well grained with nie burn in suguha style. NIoiguchi is deep and the habuchi is soft. It has unique characteristic.
Hamon : Konie structure suguha with nie burn. Nioiguchi is deeply attached.
The habuchi is soft and there is unique Sukehiro hamon called Yuki no Muragie.(The scene of the snow on the leaf is melting slightly ).
At the other hand it is a piece with active kinsuji and it is elegant work.
It is deep nioiguchi piece with boshi round end.
Special feature : Sukehiro was born in 1637.He became a adopted child of 1st generation Sukehiro who was well known as Soboro Sukehiro.
And he moved to Osaka. He was allowed to engrave the signature “Echizen no kami” in 1657.
And he started to serve Aoyama Munetoshi who was lord of Osaka castle.Sukehiro was the most skillful swordsmith in Osaka Shinto, as well as Inoue Shinkai.
Sukehiro and Inoue Shinkai made some swords together.
It is said that Sukehiro made over than 1700 swords.
This sword has typical Sukehiro hamon Yuki no Muragie hamon, It is wonderful piece of work.
