This sword belongs to Jojo saku ranking.
The blade is polished by top ranking polisher.
Habaki : Silver double Habaki.
Blade length : 70.9 cm or 2.79 inches.
Sori : 2.58 cm or 1.02 inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the Hamachi : 3.40 cm or 1.34 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.31 cm or 0.91 inches.
Kasane : 0.74 cm or 0.29 inches.
Era : Showa 30 (1955) August.
Shape : Long Katana with wide blade. Very good shape nice looking sword with balanced Kissaki.
Jigane : Koitame-hada well grained woth Jinie attach, Utsuri appear on surface of the blade.
Hamon : Koniedeki Ko-Gonome-Choji-Midare with deep Nioikuci, Ahi and Yo work very active. Boshi turns round shape.
Special feature : Tsugaru Junin Kunitoshi is one of the Mukansa swordsmith. His real name is ‘Nito Hiroshi’, the linage of Nito school in Mutsu Kuni Tugaru province.
He has born at Meiji 39 (1906) and learned from Horii Toshihide and Kurihara Hikosaburo. His challenge was to resurrect the forging techniques of Rai school.
During WW2, he got many awards as a Gunto swordsmith. And after the war ended, he made dedicated Hono-To for both Ise and Meiji Jingu shrine.
This blade make us reming Rai Kuniyuki beautiful Jigane. And also having very healthy condition remaining Ubu Ha as a modern Katana.
And also this blade has been submitted to exhibition in NBTHK at Showa 30th and awarded as Yushu-Saku.
