Signature: Echizen Kami Fujiwara Tsuguhiro.
Echizen Jyu Shimosaka.
(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku Jyo saku and regular saku)
This sword Echizen Kami Fujiwara Tsuguhiro belongs to Jyo saku ranking.
The blade was polished.
Habaki : Gold solid single Habaki.
Blade length : 70.5 cm or 27.8 inches.
Sori : 0.6 cm or 0.24 inches.
Mekugi : 2
Width at the hamachi : 3.1cm or 1.2 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.1 cm or 0.83 inches.
Kasane : 0.66cm or 2.60 inches.
Era : Edo period Kanbun era.
Shape : The blade is rather wide and regular thickness and Kanbun shape small Sori with longer Kissaki.
On the front side of the blade, Taki Kaen Fudo (waterfall, frames and Acala the god of Buddhism) is engraved with nice work.
On the back side of the blade, Ken and Dokko are engraved.
Those were probably engraved around later Meiji period.
Jigane : Koitame-hada well grained with Jinie attach and small Chikei work.
Hamon : Konie-deki Suguha with double Hamon and from the Monouchi area to Kissaki, thick Nioikuchi deep Suguha and turns round shape.
Special feature: Tsuguhiro was working at Echizen province and also Edo.
The sword looks Echizen Yasutsugu style.
Koshirae :
Saya : Black Roiro saya.
Tsuba : On the round shape iron Tsuba, some flowers and branches are painted with gold color.
Menuki : On the Shakudo Nanakoji plate, some family crest is engraved with gold color.
Fuchikashira: On the Shakudo Nanakoji plate, some flowers are engraved with gold color.
