Katana in Army Gunto Koshirae
Signature :Mumei(unsigned) attributed as Showa sword not forged.
The blade was polished nicely.
Blade length : 65.15 cm or 25.64 inches.
Sori : 1.5 cm or 0.59 inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 3.14cm or 1.23 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.17 cm or 0.85 inches.
Kasane : 0.73cm or 0.28 inches.
Era : Showa period during war time.
Shape : The blade is rather wide and thick healthy blade.
Jitetsu :Muji style.
Hamon : From Hamachi, suguha and then choji midare and gunome midair mixed and round shape boshi.
Special feature : At a glance, the blade looks like Yokoyama sukekane style.
but checked carefully, the blade must be Showa blade without forging.
The blade was polished by good polisher so it is rather difficult to say whether the blade is forged blade or not.
Anyway we think the blade is not forged blade.
Koshirae : Japanese army sword mounting.
Saya is wood not iron saya.
To-cyo:the line cloth is blue so the owner was army officer(lieutenant、first lieutenant, captain)
