Jidai(era) : Early Edo period.
Special feature: On shakudo nanakoji plate, Shi-shi dog design is engraved and inlayed with gold. Gold and Shakudo combined ground.
Yokoya Ke Shodai Soyo was born in Keicho 18th year(1613) and
there is almost no signed pieces. Fine metal worker.
To distinct from second generation Soyo, the first generation is usually called Sofu Soyo and Ko-Soyo.
Sofu Soyo has studied under Goto Den Jyo in Kyoto and then moved to Sokujyo in Edo period. He has also worked for engravings under Edo Shogunate and has been payed 220 bales.
He has passed away at Genroku 3rd year(1690) December 17th at age of 78.
This piece is fine shakudo nanakoji piece with ferocious Shi-shi dog design.
