The blade was polished.

Era : Late Edo Period 1847
Shape: It is wide blade with deep sori. It is elegant shape tachi.
Hamon: Konie deki gunome midare with mixture of Choji midare(wavy hamon).
There is deep nioiguchi with soft Hamon edge.
Ashi(hamon "legs" or the hamon lines that shows up vertically to the katana)
work is well attached. Boshi is midare komi with sharp turn back.
Special Feature: Naotane was born in 1778 or 1779 at Yamagata City.
Considering from his tytle Taikei, his birthday is possibly15th July. His real name was Shoji Minobei.
He went to Edo and become a pupil of Suishinshi Masahide. Around 1812, the Akimoto family
in Yamagata province retained Naotane. In 1821, he got a title of Chikuzen-daijo.
In 1848, he stepped up to the Mino (No) Kami. As building up a solid reputation,
he got many invitations to make sword in various places. He added the name
of place to inscribe the signature. Naotane passed away in 1857, aged 79.
Naotane could make a variety of styles: Bizen-den, Soshu-den, Yamashiro-den
and Yamato-den. He was especially good at Bizen-den and the Soshu-den.
His swords are ranked at the highest rank called Saijo-saku in the last days
of the Tokugawa shogunate. Especially his swords made in the Tempo Era (1830 to 1843)
called tempo-uchi are highly appreciated as his best examples attained maturity.
This sword is rather slender elegant shape which remind us Ichimonji style.
Especially fine jigane with utsuri and gunome choji midare hamon with thick nioikuchi
and soft feeling Habuchi is extraordinary
sword. We recommend this marvelous high ranking sword.

Tsuba; Round shape shakudo tsuba
Fuchikashira: Shakudo nanakoji plate with family crest design engraved
and inlaid with gold. Kashira: Horn.
