Tanto : Bishu Osafune Norimitsu

Tanto in Koshirae. (NBTHK Hozon Paper)
NBTHK Tokubetsu Kicho Paper for Koshirae.

Signature : Bishu Osafune Norimitsu

The blade was polished.
Blade length : 19.69 cm or 7.75 inches.
Sori : No Sori
Mekugi : 2
Width at the hamachi : 2.12 cm or 0.83 inches.
Kasane : 0.56 cm or 0.22 inches.
Era : Muromachi period.
Shape : It is regular width and thickness. It is Takenoko-Zori style nice shape tanto.
Jitetsu : Koitame hada with mixture of mokume hada. Jinie is atached and it has fine jigane.
Hamon : Konie deski suguha.

Special feature : Norimitsu has a sword smith group that has continued from Kamakura period to late Muromachi period.
This piece has some small crack at the kissaki area at the back side. It is not serious.
It is nicely made katana.

Koshirae : NBTHK Tokubetsu kIcho paper It is nice conditon wonderful koshirae
Tsuba : Shakudo with some hamidashi tsuba
Fuchikashira : Shakudo plate with some fine liner pattern.
Saya : It is rare and excellent Aogai Chirashi saya.
Menuki : Shakudo with bird family crest engraved and inlayed with gold.
Kozuka : Shakudo nanakoji plate with pine and crane design engraved. Goto Denjyo zaimei; NBTHK Hozon Tosogu.
Goto Denjyo was also called Mitsuhiro and was active around mid Edo period in Kyoto.
He was the second son of Norizane and there are many wonderful piece in his work.
