Chikushi Roushi Suetsu Isuke Munefusa Goshintou

Sayagaki Translation: Bishu Osafune Sukesada made this sword at August, 1574.
It is a self-defense sword of Chikushi Roushi Suetsu Isuke Munefusa
The blade was polished
Blade length : 21.5cm or 8.46inches.
Sori : 0.1cm or 0.03inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 2.14cm or 0.84inches.
Kasane : 0.51cm or 0.2inches.
Era : Late Muromachi Period(1574)
Shape : This is average size width and thickness There is Bohi and side hi engraved.
Jitetsu :Itame hada well grained with mixture of Mokume. There are some loose hada with jinie attached. There are some utsuri(fog like white pattern) seen.
Hamon : Konie base shoji Midare Boshi is sharp end.
Special feature : Bishuu Osafune Sukesada started from early Muromachi period and been successful until Edo period. This Sukesada is one of the mass produced sukesada made in late Muromachi period.

Koshirae : Aikuchi Koshirae
Fuchikashira : Shakudou muji with phoenix design engraved and inlayed with gold.
Saya : Nashiji(aventurline) base with phoenix design engraved and lacquered with gold.
Menuki : Paulownia kiri mon is engraved and inlayed with gold
Kozuka : On shakudou base there is a kizami(notch) and paulownia engraved and
inlayed with gold.

Historical background: At June 17th,1574, Takeda Masayoshi captured Takaten Jinjyo castle which was located in Kakegawa city, Shizuoka prefecture. At war time,
Takeda Masayoshi、feudal lord at Sengoku Period, and Tokugawa Ieyasu, Feudal lord and first Shogun of Edo period, has fought over this castle for its secureness.
